Honestly, I had been hesitant about blogging on my photography website for a while. I just kept thinking "No one is THAT interested in my personal life!"
Well, that's why I decided to mix in a little bit of business and personal life.
Today, while discussing some insecurites that had developed while feeling restless around the house, I had mentioned how personal I took WORK. I felt as though that if I wasn't doing something productive, that there was something wrong with me. This is coming from a busy body who feels like she needs to have a say in everything, know what's going on at all times at every location, and not be lazy. If I ever indulged in buying clothes online, or sitting on the couch and watching TV on my off days, I felt as though I was doing something wrong.
But Jared then said "you need to learn how to relax"
What the heck does that mean? I AM RELAXED.
I soon found out that what he meant by "relax", was to simply REST.
When fellow Christians tend to quote any verse from the bible about rest, they usually open their bible (apps) to Matthew 11. It states that we all need to come to Jesus and find rest, when our burdens are heavy.
But what about when we're just busy? We're not necessarily upset or stressed. Just BUSY!
So, I found a verse in Genesis, which bible readers know as THE BEGINNING. The creation. The first chapter. In the second chapter, I read:
2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.
3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
This was a revelation (ha-ha. get it?) for me. It is a holy deed to take a rest day. If I want to follow the ways of God, I really needed to consider this whole REST thing, and take it seriously.
Some may think "Well, isn't that what Sundays are for?" Yes. Technically, the sabbath is usually Sunday, in the minds of generalized Christians. But what about the christian photographer, who is also the paid praise and worship director at her church? That's a job. So, no. Sunday is not my sabbath.
So, here I am.. resting, on a Monday... but blogging on my business website.
I need to be a little more holy, I guess.
Despite my ramblings about rest... Down below is a photo from our latest shoot from over the weekend! Alyssia was the winner of our Mini Session giveaway raffle! She is getting ready to celebrate her big 15! Woo woo!
Until next time,
Georgia
